Membership Pledges

Background on the process

We’re grateful you are part of the NSP community!  Like last year, we are asking members to establish their annual membership pledge for the coming year. Annual pledges can still be structured as a monthly or an annual gift. We are asking all members to make this pledge and renew your membership by June 30 regardless of what month you originally joined NSP.  Aligning the membership renewal process with our fiscal year, July 1st, allows us to make better budget projections and streamline the process for our staff and leadership.

As always, we encourage each member household to make a pledge that is meaningful, significant, and affordable to you. Guidance on how much to consider contributing can be found on the pledge form. See below for additional instructions.

Our doors are open to everyone, whether you give $0 or $10,000 per year. In line with our ethic to build a leader-full community, we invite all members to join a team to contribute ideas, talent, and leadership. We also ask all members to fill a few volunteer shifts per season to sustain our Shabbat and community programming. And lastly, we invite members, friends, and family who are able to contribute seed gifts at $10,800, $5,400, $3,600, or $1,800. Any amount contributed is appreciated and makes building this community possible.

FY 2023 PLEDGE FORM

Pledge Instructions

1. Make your pledge

  • To make your pledge, please fill out this form, which includes more detailed instructions on how to make your contribution and guidance on an amount to consider based on your income. If you are able to, we hope you will consider an increase of 15% in your contribution for the coming year.

  • If you have any questions or need assistance with the process, please feel free to reach out to our Administrative Associate at any time at administration@newsynagogueproject.org

2. Update your membership information

  • We use the start of the new membership year to make sure our records are up to date. Have you moved? Are there new people in your household? If you do have changes to your membership information you would like us to update, please fill out this form.

Resourcing Our Vision

As we enter our fifth year, NSP continues to build a spiritually vibrant, radically inclusive, Jewish community that reflects our vision for a world of justice, equity, and liberation. None of this would be possible without the contributions of our members and our friends and families. We are so grateful for your contributions, and look forward to continuing to grow and nurture our community this next year.

For the 2023 fiscal year beginning July 1, 2022 our budget is $416,917. NSP has approximately 320 adult members, so the cost per adult member is $1,300 per year, or $2,600 per year for a two-adult household. We ask members to pledge as much as they are able, guided by the table on the pledge form and by NSP’s operating cost needs, and knowing that this contribution will vary across our community. For membership to be accessible to everyone, we need those who are able to contribute more than the average cost per member. For comparison, membership dues at other DC-area synagogues range $1,500–$3,180 per year for households with 2 adults and $750–$2,090 for 1 adult.

As we've expanded our offerings and grown our capacity to serve our community, we hope those who are able will also expand your investment in NSP by considering increasing your membership contribution by 15% in the coming year.
