In a year of utter destruction in Gaza, the tragic verses of Eicha (Lamentations) eerily mirror the scenes of massacre appearing on our screens. Nationally touring Jewish musician and liturgist Molly Bajgot will lead us deep into grief and mourning through song and chant. Together, we will eat a final meal, pray, cry out, and reflect on the deep grief we hold for our community and people, our choices and missed opportunities, Palestine and Israel, and the entire world.

Please join NSP and Molly Bajgot at 6:30pm on Monday, August 12 at Simpson-Hamline for services commemorating the Ninth of Av, on which we mourn the destruction of the Temple.

Molly will also be running a Songleading Workshop at 4:00pm on Sunday, August 11 at Simpson-Hamline:

Leading with a Bold Heart: a Songleading Workshop for Community

Singing in community can be transformative, but what does it take to be an effective song leader? How do we build those powerful containers, and what does bold songleading look like, in living rooms and in the streets? In this workshop, we’ll look at the role of songleader and discuss how to design singing spaces that empower and support the group experience. We’ll practice and explore how to choose songs for different settings, how to teach melodies, and how to stay confident while in front of a group. If you’re a budding song leader or looking to hone and sharpen your skills, this workshop is for you.

Register for the workshop and/or services here.
