Elizabeth Narvaez


Elizabeth is a doctoral candidate at the University of Virginia, where she studies contemporary Jewish ritual and practice, focusing on questions of identity, community, and belonging. As NSP’s Jews of Color Coordinator, Elizabeth centers relationships and community. She knows everyone has stories, strengths, and a spark.

She grew up in a rural town of about 500 people in South Texas and holds a BA in Religious Studies from St. Edward’s Unversity in Austin and an MDiv from Harvard Divinity School. Elizabeth was also a Fulbright Scholar in Tel Aviv, where she researched interreligious dialogue.

Elizabeth lives with her spouse and toddler in Charlottesville, Virginia, where she is a member of Congregation Beth Israel. Elizabeth loves cooking, connecting with new people, and exploring the outdoors with her daughter.
