Help Kollel continue to grow and thrive!
Generous support from Kollel parents, grandparents, and friends has made it possible for the New Synagogue Project to create an innovative kids education program from scratch and grow the program to a full-fledged religious school in just five years. Liora Ostroff, NSP’s Education Director, has designed an entirely new curriculum to bring NSP values to life every week. Now in its 5th year, Kollel has grown to 81 students in 6 classes taught by 15 amazing educators. In addition to the art-, debate-, and justice-filled weekly curriculum Liora has designed, she’s also created resources that are impacting the broader field of Jewish education: an original Hebrew curriculum, the first and only to teach non-binary Hebrew, which has been featured at the Capital Jewish Museum in their 2025 exhibition “LGBT Jews in the Federal City,” and an antisemitism workbook for middle grades, which offers a way to teach about antisemitism in a way that’s aligned with NSP’s antiracist values. Your support has made all of this possible.
With your support, and with NSP’s big move to a space of our own, next year we hope to:
- Expand Kollel to accept more students in additional classrooms
- Launch formal teen programming so that students can continue their learning past 7th grade and B Mitzvah
- Launch a Pre-K class for 3’s and 4’s
- Launch a once-a-week afterschool program for students to spend more time learning Hebrew and engaging in chugim, “clubs” or “electives”
We invite you to join us in this next chapter for Kollel and our whole community. We hope you’ll consider matching or increasing your past support, or consider a first-time gift if you’re new to the Kollel community of supporters! Together, we will continue to make our dreams for this transformative program a reality.
If you plan to make a gift of over $1,000, we hope you’ll consider giving via ACH Bank Transfer (through the form above) or by check, which can be made out to New Synagogue Project and mailed to PO Box 43153, Washington, DC 20010. For other ways to give, please see here.
